ECL opens the office of "OOO ECL Rus" in St. Petersburg

We opened our new office in the Russian city of St. Petersburg on 11. November 2015 with a reception for customers and business partners. The newly founded holding company “OOO ECL Rus”, managed by Dmytro Grybkov, also commenced its business operations at the same time. Grybkov has been in charge of business with Russia at ECL since 2009.

The Mayor of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck, Bernd Saxe, travelled to Russia especially for the opening ceremony. The Vice-Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Relations in St. Petersburg, Igor Lonskij, and the Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in St. Petersburg, Katrin Werdermann, also accepted the invitation to attend.

“The establishment of the office is intended to strengthen and permanently consolidate relations between the two cities of Lübeck and St. Petersburg and their ports, regardless of the political situation”, said Mayor Bernd Saxe in his opening speech and, at the same time, held out the prospect of a further visit together with a delegation from the economic committee of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament.

Sebastian Jürgens, the Managing Director of LHG, also wanted to see long-lasting cooperation with Russian customers and freight forwarders and called for political support to implement the goals set. “Involvement in Russia demonstrates the relevance of this market for Lübeck and the entire Baltic region and is a clear, positive signal to our Russian customers in economically difficult times. The establishment of the new office in Russia should be seen as an investment and firm belief in the future of the Russian market. The Port of Lübeck, the strongest Ro/Ro port for the Swedish and Finnish markets, will do everything it can to also become the market leader in the Ro/Ro transport segment in Russia”, explained Jürgens.

“ECL has already been working with its business partners in St. Petersburg for many years. Our common objective is to further expand and develop the business on the basis of the existing maritime routes between Lübeck and St. Petersburg”, added ECL Managing Director Jörg Ullrich.
