Reel cutting carried out again in the Port of Luebeck
A 47-day strike in Finland was the reason that Myllykoski stored 30 tons of paper with a width of 3075mm for sawing in warehouses in Luebeck for their customers. Myllykoski requested ECL to organise the sawing.
The „Mobile Reel-saw“, belonging to the company Colombier from Mijdrecht, Holland, offers the following advantages compared to existing cutting procedures:
- The original tension and moisture within the reel is not altered!
- There are no minimum or maximum cutting widths, i.e. all customer requirements can be undertaken
- Cutting width from 3mm
- Reels with an Original width of 250mm to 3500mm can be sawn
The reels are placed onto the sawing platform with a clamp forklift. A specialist then cuts the reel layer by layer until the required width is reached. Waste materials are dropped directly into a designated waste paper container. Shavings and splinters are also put into a special container during the sawing process.
After the reel is smoothened down, the lid is replaced back onto the top of the reel. The label is then brought up to date with the new width and weight.
Many ECL-employees take the opportunity, to watch the work being carried out.
